I think that like the residents by the milestone in germantown many residents from the burtonsville, brookeville,& silver spring area will appreciate the convenience of stores like those around us. Walmart alone can help with the lowered number of jobs in this area. By opening a large store like that it will not only bring more visitors to the area but it will also give more jobs to our community. So, in the end its a win win situation for all parties involved.Mahallynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09229506853081757539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30306615.post-41616263328326706552007-11-21T13:44:00.000-05:002007-11-21T13:44:00.000-05:00To Boniman...I agree. We've just got to hope the left-wing nutcases on our county council don't further destroy our neighborhood by allowing more moderate income housing. If that happens, people will dread traveling through the "various shady neighborhoods" of Burtonsville to get to our power center.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30306615.post-92161443306449591402007-11-12T08:42:00.000-05:002007-11-12T08:42:00.000-05:00I'm glad this power center concept is gaining supp...I'm glad this power center concept is gaining support within the community. I'd rather have a Walmart right here in Burtonsivlle than driving to Laurel and through its various shady neighborhoods.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30306615.post-44799228185095274472007-11-03T10:27:00.000-04:002007-11-03T10:27:00.000-04:00I agree with boniman...a power center would save u...I agree with boniman...a power center would save us east county residents from having to travel to Laurel or Rockville to do most of our shopping. The Target on Cherry Hill Road just doesn't cut it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30306615.post-29723455080722951602007-11-02T20:31:00.000-04:002007-11-02T20:31:00.000-04:00People complain about the gentrification of Silver...People complain about the gentrification of Silver Spring, and the housing prices, but when you look at the stats, it has to be doing something right. www.city-data.com, shows that Burtonsville has a median income of almost $25K more than Silver Spring, yet it has a mediam house/condominium cost of $42K less. There must be something desirable, that attracts people making less money to pay 42K more for a house.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30306615.post-41567406752513182872007-11-02T10:13:00.000-04:002007-11-02T10:13:00.000-04:00That retail village idea is garbage. What Burtonsville needs is a power center like Milestone in Germantown with a Walmart, Lowes, Costco, etc. Burtonsville cannot support a Washingtonian Center-style development as I recommended in Fenton Village but the Power Center would work here very well. The fact is that there are not enough people living in the immediate Burtonsville area to support town center development. There is a large through traffic and Burtonsville could benefit from that by building the power center.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
