Despite sub-freezing temperatures, Montgomery County Public Schools are open today. But students and parents didn't go without a fight, taking their concerns and their pleas to school officials on Twitter. Here's a Storify of what happened:
"...most DC-area school systems shut down for Tuesday, January 7."
Most Virginia school systems were closed. The nearest Maryland system that closed was Washington County. MCPS had a tough call to make, considering the academic schedule and the number of snow days used so far. Using the entire DC area as a comparison isn't really fair.
