oh, today is something (and, by the way . . .)

Happy Halloween, everyone. You'd think an afternoon of driving around East County yesterday would've yielded some awesome photos of decorations or whatever but, lo, it did not. There's one house on Briggs Chaney Road (around Fairdale Drive, I always forget where) that goes all-out for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. So go look at that, if you get a chance.

By the way: have you felt like JUTP hasn't been posting as regularly (or as thoroughly) as we used to? I do. That's why, for the first time in two years, I'm looking for some co-bloggers. You don't have to know how to use a computer, and you don't have to have a college degree - but you should live in East County, be able to write well, and want to talk about this place that we call home.

If you're interested, send a writing sample to just up the pike at gmail dot com.

Thanks! If anyone actually sees this, I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

I'd give it a shot, as I do not have a college degree, but I don't have the combined necessary qualities of living in East County and being able to write well.

Aspen Hill, where I live, is "East County" mostly due to gerrymandering that places it in District 4, as it shares little with East MoCo other than that it also is being let slide to perdition by an uncaring government in Rockville.

Well, I suppose it's true that we're all east of Rock Creek, but so are filthy-rich Olney, Sandy Spring, and Ashton.

I'm aware you have a blog already, Mr Hardman. Do you think you could handle the combined responsibilities of writing for your blog, writing for this blog, and then commenting on this blog?

I mean this in the best possible way =)

Me, responsible? Surely you must realize that these are not concepts that most people would put in one sentence. ;)

If I were writing for JUTP and commenting on it as well, I think there's some sort of aesthetic violation. Then again, there are those who suggest that the whole concept of blogs is mostly so that people could follow their own previous postings, regardless of whether or not there had been a response.

Seriously, right now, there aren't all that many things going on in East County that have both the quality of being interesting to me, and something on which I could maintain even the pretense of equanimity or even-handedness. Attack politics are all well and good -- or at least expected -- in campaign season, but during the interims we all need to at least pretend to be trying to get along.

In any case, you're so much better-connected than I am, in terms of getting notices of upcoming events and meetings, I'd feel like a shabby pretender.

And in any case, I did just get a patent notice of allowance and probably need to immerse myself in studying small business development.
