we're back!

School is finally over and the presses are rolling again in earnest. Come back TOMORROW for the first of several new posts I'm working on for the summer.

Also, thanks to everyone who responded to my call for rooms for rent while I'm interning in DC this summer. If everything works out, I'll be living in Petworth this summer. Though that's in DC, not Silver Spring, it's actually closer to downtown Silver Spring than my parents' house in Calverton. At three miles, I could even bike there, though the thought of pedaling down Georgia Avenue scares the crap out of me.

Thanks for bearing with me! I'm looking forward to seeing y'all in the weeks and months to come.

I start up at Glenmont and ride to Metro Center. I'll get on Georgia Ave. once I'm in downtown Silver Spring, but between Randolph Rd. and going past Wheaton, Forest Glen, etc., no way. And I leave at 5 a.m. when the traffic is relatively light. It's sidewalks for me. Further south on Georgia Ave. isn't bad. You'd be better off getting on 13th St., which has very little traffic, and taking it up to Georgia Ave.

Depending on where in Petworth, perhaps hopping over to the temporary Met Branch trail on 5th St. up to Takoma, then the off-street path again is an easy way to get to DTSS by bike? I wouldn't ride on Georgia either. :)

You don't bike down Georgia Avenue, you use the residential streets alongside.
